WHAT WE FOCUS ON
Five areas. One physician. One plan.
Most health decisions get made one appointment at a time. Here, they’re made together, by a specialist who sees how each part affects the rest.
Most practices are built around appointments.
Ours is built around you.
An adult’s health rarely comes down to one issue. Blood sugar affects the heart. Sleep affects blood sugar. Fitness affects nearly everything. When separate offices handle these on separate timelines, the connections are easy to miss.
The practice works the other way. Your first 90 days bring everything together into one clear plan. Through the year, regular check-ins adjust that plan as your life and your results change. Each year starts with a new baseline.
We work with a deliberately limited number of families. That is what keeps the time unhurried and the thinking careful.
How It Works →
Where we focus
Five areas account for much of how well people live and age. We look at all of them, and at how they connect.
Cardiovascular Risk Reduction
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States, and much of the risk can be changed. A standard cholesterol panel tells only part of the story.
- Advanced lipid testing, including ApoB and Lp(a)
- Risk factors, labs, and family history, reviewed together
- Coronary imaging when appropriate, after discussion
Metabolic and Hormonal Health
Insulin resistance can build for years before blood sugar looks abnormal. Hormone changes often show up as fatigue, weight change, or poor sleep long before anyone connects them.
- Advanced metabolic and hormone testing
- Body composition, measured over time
- Nutrition and lifestyle guidance built around how you actually eat and live
Cognitive Health
Many of the factors linked to cognitive decline can be changed, and most of them overlap with heart and metabolic health. Addressing them early is part of the plan, not a separate program.
- The cardiovascular and metabolic factors that affect the brain
- Sleep, hearing, and physical activity
- A personal introduction to specialist colleagues when needed
Physical Fitness
VO2 max, a measure of how well your body uses oxygen during exercise, is one of the strongest predictors of how long and how well people live. Muscle matters just as much, supporting metabolism, strength, and independence with age.
- Regular standarized fitness assessments, with VO2 max measured directly, not estimated
- Strength, balance, and functional mobility, adjusted to ability and measured the same way each time
- A plan to build and preserve muscle, which matters more with every decade
Early Cancer Detection
Standard screening still matters, and we help make sure it happens on schedule. Newer tools can add information for some people, and whether they fit is a conversation, not a default.
- A review of personal and family history
- Screening whole-body MRI and multi-cancer early detection, when appropriate, after discussion
- An honest look at what each test can and can’t tell you
One specialist who sees the full picture.
Dr. Mathews is Quadruple Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Obesity Medicine, and Clinical Lipidology, with fellowship training in Endocrinology and Preventive Cardiology. That range lets one physician hold all five areas at once.
For members and their households, the practice is the first call for any health question. If you have doctors you already trust, we work alongside them. Your record lives in the Columbia and NewYork-Presbyterian system, which makes sharing information simpler. When a specialist would help, we make a personal introduction, with your permission.

What We Believe
Depth over volume
We see fewer families so each evaluation is thorough and each result gets careful thought.
One plan, not just a series of visits
Every examination, test, and check-in feeds one plan you can see and understand.
The long view
Good health decisions are made over years. We follow how things change over time, not only how they look on one day.
A Note on Fit
This model isn’t right for everyone, and we would rather say so early. Every introduction is a conversation in both directions about goals and fit. If another approach would serve you better, we’ll help point you toward it.
